« The SOLEIL Synchrotron is the French centre for synchrotron radiation. It is a multidisciplinary instrument and a research laboratory, whose mission is to conduct research programmes using synchrotron radiation and to develop cutting-edge instrumentation, making its infrastructures available to the scientific community. It is used annually by several thousand French and foreign researchers, across a wide range of disciplines such as physics, biology, chemistry, astrophysics, the environment, earth sciences, etc. This Very Large Research Infrastructure (TGIR), a partner of the University of Paris-Saclay, is a “civil” company jointly founded by the CNRS and the CEA.
The mission of the ISI (Infrastructure and Information System) group is to specify, implement and operate all of SOLEIL’s information system infrastructure equipment : operating systems, storage resources, networks/telecom, scientific computing. This group serves around 500 internal users and works closely with the teams responsible for the various administrative, scientific and technical applications.
The ISI Group needs to be able to rely on an efficient, low-cost solution for the backup of corporate data (files, databases) and virtual machine configurations.
Before Beemo, until 2021, the Synchrotron SOLEIL used NetBackup as an outsourced data backup solution. But the services were not of good quality, and the cost charged was very high.

- The support department confirms the competence and commitment of the Beemo staff with every contact,
- The restorations carried out (either for tests or following a real operational need) have always given satisfaction,
- The evolution requests expressed were planned in the development, and saw the light of day after being integrated into the functional roadmap : the ISI group felt that they had been heard.
