New incremental block backup

Nouvelle sauvegarde incrémentale bloc

In order to provide its users with ever more efficient solutions, Beemo offers a new incremental block backup. This new technology will soon be integrated into all our backup solutions and is now available on request.

Optimisation of incremental block backup :

Beemo has developed a new incremental block backup to meet the new needs of backing up increasingly large databases, such as Exchange databases and virtual machines.

Incremental block backup is a method of backing up only the blocks of the file that have been changed, not the entire file. The latest improvements to incremental block backup now allow for more efficient outsourcing from the Beemo appliance to data centers. This improvement is particularly efficient for databases and disk images (vhd type).
Users wishing to back up large databases to data centers will benefit from the advantages of incremental block backup, i.e. bandwidth savings due to a reduced volume of data to be backed up, and a reduction in backup time.

Using incremental backup methods in Beemo solutions :

Upstream of incremental block backup, Beemo solutions also include incremental file backup. Incremental file backup allows you to back up only those files that have been modified since their last backup, but in their entirety, thus avoiding the need to back up files that have already been modified.
These two types of backup are therefore complementary and are used at different levels :

  • The incremental file backup will first be used to make a backup from the agent to the locally installed Beemo,
  • Between the Beemo and the Data Centers or the remote Beemo, incremental block backup will be used and more suitable for large files.
